About me
René Rodlauer is a Vienna-based director whose work merges nuanced storytelling with a modern, precise visual language. Entirely self-taught, he began in photography, where an early fascination with composition and light naturally evolved into a deeper cinematic pursuit.
René is curious about how brands and pop culture influence us and enjoys exploring the emotional bonds people form with brands. With a strong focus on expanding sets through practical and visual effects, he crafts visually striking, emotionally engaging environments that feel immersive and alive.
He has collaborated with global brands such as Lidl, L’Oréal, IKEA, Union Investment and Warner Music, as well as leading Austrian companies including ÖBB, Erste Bank, Vöslauer, Wiener Stadtwerke, and Salzburg AG.
René balances creative vision with structured production craft, shaping time, image, and meaning across the entire process to deliver visually striking work—always in service of the story.
As a member of DRCT, René is part of a network advocating for better working conditions and professional standards in commercial filmmaking. He also brings his expertise to the Sounding Board of Team Werbung Wien, strengthening his involvement in Vienna’s creative industry.
